Kids Day 2010

Farmer’s Market Closes For Season

The Boonville Farmer’s Market drew to a close on Thursday, October 20th.  It was the second year for the Market and it was another successful year.  Kelly Ulrich, Market Co-Manager stated, “We had a great second year, even though our last few weeks were rainy ones, the vendors were still here and so were the shoppers.”

When asked if the market will return next year, Ulrich said, “Definitely.  And we can promise it will be bigger and with some improvements.  This year we had some challenges with the site and some obstacles to overcome, but we were lucky to have the cooperation of the Village DPW who did a terrific job.  Next year we will have a jump start on some new things we hope to bring to the market to improve things even more.”

This year the Market was awarded a grant through NYS Ag and Markets under Governor Cuomo. Ulrich said those grants funds went into improving the exhibit area, which in turn provided more parking, and also into advertising and promoting the market.  Ulrich also announced that new signage is in production for next year.  “We know that signs directing people into the market was a problem, and we hope we have that resolved next year.  We certainly want to make it as easy as possible for people to find us.”

Judie Dellerba, Market Co-Manager, added that next year the Market will have some special events planned. “This year circumstances made it difficult to plan our Kids Day and some other special events.  We know our shoppers missed having them and we missed doing them. We are already planning events for next year and we are sure people will enjoy themselves when they come to the Market.”

The Boonville Farmer’s Market will return next June.  If you are interested in becoming a vendor at the market or would like to give any suggestions to the committee, you can reach them at: boonvillefarmersmarket@yahoo.com
